Day 11
Winning the Battle of
Your Fantasy and Thought Life

“The greatest pollution problem in our world today is not in the water or air, but in our thoughts.” – Adrian Rodgers

Are you drinking toxic tea? Tea stands for thoughts, emotions, and actions. When our thought are toxic they will lead to toxic emotions, which will lead to toxic actions. What we dwell on will grow in our hearts and in our emotions.

Your Thought Life

The area of men’s thought life and fantasies is probably one of the more difficult areas to tackle. There have been references in prior sessions regarding thought life, and some tools to help in that arena, but what about fantasies? Our Imagination is powerful, creative, and given to us by God.

“Our imagination is a collection of focused thoughts that creates a reality in our mind.” – Mike Hatch
Matthew 5:28 tells us, “But I tell you that if anyone looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” However, the devil, knowing that men are visually stimulated, baits men with images that cause them to have unhealthy thoughts and desires.

(for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strong holds); casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (RV)

Prayer: "Father please wash my memory with the blood of Jesus and help me die to my sinful pleaseure I have in it. Please forgive me for any sin I have committed in my thoughts. Thank youin Jesus name I pray.""
“how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” - Hebrews 9:14 (RV)
“let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our body washed with pure water:” - Hebrews 10:22 (RV)
Redirect Your Thoughts to Something Pure

I recently had a conversation with a counselor who stated that if men were put on a desert island cut off from all forms of media, they would have enough sexual images to dwell on for the rest of their lives.

Q: What sexual memories are causing problems in your daily thought life?
Q: What steps can you take daily to wash those memories from your mind?
Q: In what ways have you used or are using your imagination for sin?
Q: What is the danger of NOT resisting or binding an evil thought?
Q: What are the three elements of casting down evil thoughts and imaginations?
Q: In what way will you re-direct your thoughts the next temptation that you face?

Be honest with yourself about the things that trigger temptation.
“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he..” - Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)
Temptation is all around us. We must realize we cannot stop it from coming into our minds, but we do have a choice about what to do when the temptation comes. We have dedicated Day 12 to the topic of thought life as well.
